In one year, over 26,000 tourists visited Mount Everest, the world's highest peak. According to the Everest National Park, 26,474 tourists visited the Khumbu region in fiscal year 2078-079.
According to park statistics, 4,335 tourists visited the Everest region in fiscal year 2077-2078, and 22 ,139 people visited it in fiscal year 2078-2079. According to Bishnu Rokay, the park's information officer, there are 21,198 foreigners and 5,276 Nepalese. The park, which was founded in 2032, covers an area of 1,148 square kilometers.
The Khumbu region has two climbing seasons: The best time to visit Everest Base Camp is either side of the late-May to mid-Sep monsoon season. Late Sep-Nov and Feb-May are the main trekking months with fairly stable conditions, good visibility and temps at Base Camp getting up to about -6°C.
