Tenzing Chogyal Sherpa comes from the foothills of the Everest region, Namche Bazaar. He completed MS by Research in Glaciology from Kathmandu University, Nepal. After graduating, he worked for a year at the University as a Research Associate for the Cryosphere Monitoring Project (CMP).He has participated in several glacio-hydrological research expeditions across Nepal. He is currently working on glaciers and glacial lake mapping in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region.He has keen interest in the culinary arts and is passionate about music and travelling.
He was also one of the key researchers from the glaciology team in the National Geographic Society’s Life at the Extremes Everest Expedition, which installed one of the highest automatic weather stations in the world. He has also been a vital member of the Everdrill project, a first-of-its-kind at that elevation, where the team had drilled more than 150m into the Khumbu Glacier.
