More than 12,000 kg of construction materials were transported in Khumbu area on Saturday. Chief of Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla, Imanath Adhikari informed that 12,200 kg of cargo was transported from Ramechhap through seven flights for the helipad construction in Lukla.
According to him, 5,400 kg of construction materials cement and rod were transported by Summit Air through 3 flights and 6,800 kg by Tara Air through 4 flights. Tara and Summit Air are transporting some cargo with a pass from the Ministry for the helipad construction in Lukla.
A helipad is being constructed in Lukla at a cost of Rs 280 million by the Nepal Civil Aviation Office. The helipad is expected to be completed and inaugurated before Nepali Festival Deshain, said the chief official of the airport office.
