Eight Manifestation of Guru Rinpoche
▪ Also known as the second Buddha
▪ Born from a Lotus
▪ Tantric Master
▪ Founder of the Nyingma Tradition
According to the Buddha’s prophecy, when Guru Rinpoche was born/arose from the heart of the lotus, he was already eight-years-old at the time and king Indrabhudi of Odiyana then adopted him as his son with the hope of handing over to him the golden throne to rule the Odiyana kingdom in future. At this time he was known as #Guru_Tshokey_Dorje (Guru Padmasambhava)
He was known as #king_Thorchogchen during the period he lived in the palace with Queen Odchangma.
Once he was expelled from the palace and began living in the cemeteries in order to heighten his practice, he was then known as #Guru_Shanti_Rakshita.
When he began giving techings to the dakinis of Odiyana and he himself also receive blessings from all dakas and dakinis, he was called #Guru_Dorje_Drakpotsal.
When he took his vows from the master Prahahasti in Zahor Kingdom and became monk, he then took of the name and was known as #Guru_Sakaya_Sengye.
When he mastered all Dzogchen teachings received from great Dzogchen masters such as Sendha and Sangay Sangwa, he was as the scholar #Guru_Loden_Chogse.
At the time when Guru Rinpoche and Mendharawa visited Odiyana kingdom and displayed spectular miracles, he was then called #Guru_Padma_Thoedthrengtsal.
When he gave most secret teaching, the Khadue Choki Gyamtsho, in Odiyana everyone became liberated and transformed into the rainbow body and for a while the whole kingdom became empty. At this time, he was called #Guru_Padma_Gyalpo.
At one point in time one of the heretic king poisoned Guru Rinpoche but nothing happened to him. The same king then tried to throw him into Ganges River but this time he flew away like a bird and at the same time, the flow of river actually reversed. From this miraculous day, he became known as #Guru_Khadhingtsal.
He often resided in cemeteries and practiced and taught tantrism to the dakinis. He was akso able to defeat many heretics and converted them into Buddhism and during this period, he was known as #Guru_Nyima_Odzer.
At Bodhagaya, many opponents of Buddhism were subdued and manifested into wrathful forms whom then served as protectors of the Dharma. At this time he was known as #Guru_Sengye_Dradok.
When he visited Himalayan region he used the dens of thirteen tigers as his residence with the support of a Bhutanese dakini called Monmo Trashi Khuedren and he continued his work to subdue local spirits. He was then known as #Guru_Dorje_Droloe.
