Namche Bazaar, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, witnessed a significant market inspection conducted by the Area Administration Office in Solukhumbu. During the inspection, expired goods worth more than 54,890 rupees were confiscated on Friday.
The investigation unveiled several issues, with the majority of the shops failing to renew their licenses and failing to display price lists, both of which are mandatory by law. Consequently, the Area Administration Office has issued directives for shop owners to renew their licenses and adhere to price list regulations.
The joint market inspection was led by Sujana Kumari Bardeva and involved comprehensive checks, including the weighing of goods and the examination of price lists within the market area. Despite a growing demand from both domestic and foreign tourists in Namche Bazaar, the inspection revealed that some packages of expired goods had been seized by the Area Administration Office.
This incident underscores the importance of adhering to regulations in the market sector and serves as a reminder for businesses to maintain quality and compliance with legal standards.
