In a significant development, Kusang Sherpa has been elected as the President in the 7th Convention of the Nepali Buddhist Family, which took place in Jeju, Korea. The convention concluded on the 24th of September at Nagarjun Gumba.
The newly formed executive committee includes prominent figures such as Thutung Gyaltse Sherpa as the Vice-President, Acharya Nima Sangye Sherpa and Dawa Lopchan as Vice-Presidents, Dawa Rinjin Lama as the General Secretary, Ngawang Sonam Sherpa as the Secretary, Yangji Sherpa as the Treasurer, and Kim Sonam Hyolmo as the Assistant Treasurer. Additional committee members consist of Pemba Wangjin Lama, Kim Yuna, Nim Sangye Lama, Tenzing Doma, and Resham Gurung.
During the convention, various spiritual leaders from different gumbas and representatives of various organizations actively participated. The outgoing General Secretary, Dawa Rinjin Lama, shared insights into the organization's endeavors, including safeguarding the Nepali Embassy, coordinating with the Nepali Contact Committee, and collaborating with the Nepali Buddhist Family in Korea on the installation of a statue of Lord Gautam Buddha in Gwanganhae, a renowned tourist destination in Korea, since 2018.
The Nepali Buddhist Family has been dedicatedly engaged in various religious and social activities in Nepal and Korea since its establishment in 1995. This development marks another milestone in its commitment to fostering cultural ties and promoting spiritual values.
