Kathmandu - Lukla Outdoors, the outdoor clothing brand, has recently inaugurated its second store in Thamel, Kathmandu. The CEO, Chechi Sherpa, shared this exciting development.
Operating successfully for three years, Lukla Outdoors has become known for its specialized clothing designed for trekking, hiking, short-distance walks, and mountaineering.
Previously, Lukla Outdoors had its primary store in Lukla, but CEO Chechi Sherpa explained that they have shifted their operational focus to Thamel, leading to the closure of the Mandikhatar store. Additionally, she mentioned that they are currently offering a 50% discount on old stock due to the introduction of new product lines.
With the tourist season now in full swing, the new Thamel store will cater to customers with a range of Lukla clothing while also preparing to launch new designs. The brand is planning to further expand its presence by opening another store in Boudha.
The Thamel store also features a café, aiming to provide valuable information to enthusiasts interested in trekking and mountain climbing, particularly regarding suitable clothing choices. CEO Chechi Sherpa emphasized Lukla Outdoors' goal of boosting the export of locally produced clothing and eventually replacing foreign-branded garments with Lukla products.
Suraj Vaidya, the Director of Vaidya Organization (VOITH), which has been collaborating with Lukla Outdoors as venture capital, highlighted their plans to expand the export of domestically produced goods. He noted that a substantial number of foreign-branded garments have been imported into Nepal recently, and Lukla Outdoors is determined to substitute them with their locally crafted clothing options.
